Believers and non-believers alike will ask themselves this question at some point; “Is God really out there?”
Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection has a myriad of proof to back it up. The simple fact that he walked among us at one point gave so many tangible proofs in him and what he was capable of. There is simply no other explanation for the miracles Jesus performed and we have YET been able to recreate with the expansive knowledge we have today. I mean, I don’t know about you but I don’t know of anyone who can be cured, on the spot, of Leprosy with a single word. Now, if you want to give them a multitude of drugs and extensive therapy…yeah, sure.
How could we have had ONE single person live among the BILLIONS upon billions of people who have inhabited this earth since it’s creation, be the only one to perform such miracles? There is simply no explanation for it other than he was God in the flesh. What about the other thousands of years when Jesus wasn’t around? What about today, almost 2,000 years after the death of Jesus? How do we know that God is still out there?
I read an article that made some very valid points. (“How do we know there’s a God when we can’t see him?” -Aaron Menikoff)
Look at the universe itself. Yes, yes, I’ve heard the proposal of a “Big Bang” that some how put everything in place to such an extensive proportion that we have what we have today. mmmm…I have a very hard time believing that because just think how detailed Earth is. The biggest point that was made was, all of the planets, the stars, everything was placed so perfectly that if it were off even just the slightest, the sun would have burnt earth to crisp long ago.
Think of the word “bang.” Does anything suggest that the results of this explosive action would create something so perfectly? When a balloon “bangs”, more than likely you’re left searching for the one little piece that flew somewhere in the room due to the force caused by the explosion. Next thing you know is the toddler found it (because they always find that one thing you don’t want them to.) and is proceeding to put it in her mouth, choke and die. Nope, doesn’t sound so perfect to me!
Then there is the question “Why is there is there so much good in the world?” Yeah, it got my juices flowing too when I read that. Man is selfish, there’s no denying that. Man makes mistakes and can be quite mean and even evil at times. However, man also has the born “instinct” to be good. If we battle with such cruelty to begin with, why don’t we just let that take precedence? The simple fact that we battle with it means that we know, somewhere in our depths, that it’s not desirable. Take every person in the world out of the picture. Just imagine you’re completely alone. The whole stranded on an island alone scenario.
Would you tear the island up? Would you mutilate any fish you were able to catch? Would you torment the insects? Would you cut yourself and do unthinkable things to your body? Would you allow the devil in you to take over and find absolutely no peace or feel nothing good?
No, you’d be upset at times, sure. Upset you can’t find any food, that you got sun burnt again, that you can’t sooth the bug bites. However, think of how glorious the night sky would look with no other lights to dim the heavens. Think how wonderful it would feel after a scorching day to have a cool rain shower. You would learn to tend to and cultivate the plants so you had food and shelter. You would carefully handle the food you eat, you would take joy and pride in your daily tasks because it would give you a purpose. You would feel pleased with yourself and your circumstances because something out there was giving you the knowledge and understanding that it was good.
Without the “creation” of “good” we would simply not exist today. You think some Big Bang theory would create good? I think it would have created a lot of chaos and uncertainty. A world with little to no order. Everything would be happen chance.
No. Because God exists and because God is good…nay, GREAT…we were created with nothing but good. Then He inserted free will and there began our understanding of evil. When Eve came upon the Serpent who spoke only things against what God had told her, she was introduced to evil. Good vs bad. We could take it back even further. When God created Adam and said it was not good for him to be alone. Adam knew that he needed a wife, a help mate, in his life.
Look at your own life. Even if you feel you have no friends, no family, no one that cares about you or wants anything to do with you. First off, I want to pray for you, because that is an awful feeling to live with! It’s a lie that you have allowed Satan to tell you and you believed it. Secondly, you had a mother at one point. A woman who bore you for a while and then gave birth to you. Whether she raised you or not, has nothing to do with it. She chose to let you have life. She could have done many many things to insure that that did not happen. However, because there is a good God, there was something in her that helped her make the decision that your life was worth saving. God did that. God put that good in her. God gave you your first breath. God allowed you to grow.
Even the unborn babies who simply did not grow properly in order to live outside the womb. God put those molecules together to grow. To prove to you that He does indeed exist and that He has a purpose. It may take a multitude of miscarriages and years of heartache, but He is proving to you that He is good and He is capable of so many things! He wants good in your life. It’s not always what WE think he should give us. But if you allow him, he will show you great good with what you have today.
There is a God and he is still out there! Just look around you. Can you not think of one thing to be thankful for? It did not happen just by chance. It didn’t just “bang” into existence. (Although a back rub banged into my life right now would sure be nice!)
There is good in the world because that is how God made it. There is breath in your lungs because God put it there. There is a planet for you to live on because God created it. There is no other founded explanation for anything that exists or is, other than God made it and he made it perfectly and with preciseness. His work isn’t finished, either. He is still shaping us, molding us, leading us to something that is beyond our comprehension of “good.”Tags: Existance, God, Good, Proof, Real
